Inti Raymi Festival of the Sun
Today the annual Incan Festival of the Sun was held ”Inti Raymi in Spanish”, ironic that the weather was pretty bad. It is an Andes ceremoni – a majestic recreation here in Stockholm. I didn’t have a camera because as mentioned in previous post the camera wasn’t charged, forgot the charger at grandmas last time we visited her. Above and below photos were taken by me at last years Incan festival.
The Inti Raymi (”Festival of the Sun”) was a religious ceremony of the Inca Empire in honor of the god Inti. It also marked the winter solstice and a new year in the Andes of the Southern Hemisphere. Since 1944, a theatrical representation of the Inti Raymi has been taking place at Sacsayhuamán (two km. from Cusco) on June 21 of each year, attracting thousands of tourists and local visitors. – quote
