Voddler Spotify

I am now a pleased owner of a Voddler and a Spotify account. My mini-pc is now my ultimate multimedia entertainment toy.

A few weeks ago I decided to search online for invites to these two media streamers. I got lucky as I came in contact with kind people willing to give away invites. I even found myself with an extra Spotify invite and chose to give it to a lucky friend. :-)

If you still don’t have these services but you don’t have an invite, using search engines to try locate an invitation might just get you invited like I did!

Wiki: Spotify is a proprietary peer-to-peer music streaming service that allows instant listening to specific tracks or albums with almost no buffering delay. Music can be browsed by artists, albums or created playlists as well as by direct searches. Although, due to the system’s DRM, it is not possible to save the streamed music for use outside the application; a link is provided to allow the listener to directly purchase the material via partner retailers.

Wiki: Voddler is a commercial video-on-demand service and accompanying client application distributing movies and television programming using a patented hybrid peer-to-peer distribution system. Voddler‘s concept is similar to those of Amazon Video on Demand, Vudu, Headweb, Spotify, and Grooveshark, but only for video, and with its client software’s 10-foot user interface is primarily designed for the living-room TV instead of a desktop computer interface, much like the graphical user interface of Boxee.

A message from Chris Brown

Chris Brown finally admits assaulting Rihanna. Chris Brown apologised for assaulting his ex-girlfriend Rihanna in a YouTube video posted on his official website.

”I’m sad and ashamed of what I’ve done”

It’s about time that we hear from that man. It’s a smart thing of him to do, unfortunately for him and his career it probably does not mean all that much. He has an entire world to answer to. Before he beat up a woman my personal opinion of him as an artist and his music was that he would go very far. Shame he messed that up.

Fans say goodbye to Michael Jackson

As so many did around the globe I too tuned in on the Michael Jackson live memorial from the Staple Center in Los Angeles where his family, friends and fans payed a beautiful tribute to the King of Pop. Many beautiful and true words was spoken. I have no doubt it is already on YouTube.

Rest in peace Michael…. .

Songbird

Songbird logo icon I am interested in software and development as well as music and hot design so this post is given. Songbird must be my favorite open-source music player available to the Windows XP platform to the date. At least among the ones that I know of. Some reasons why I like it besides the obvious cool name is the add-ons which makes it possible for me to customize it according to what I like my music player to be. Such as Last.Fm and Twitter integration, Music Recommendations and the SkreemR Search.

Songbird is a free and open source software audio player and web browser founded by Rob Lord and developed by Pioneers of the Inevitable (with members who previously developed for both Winamp[1] and the Yahoo! Music Engine), with a stated mission ”to incubate Songbird, the first Web player, to catalyze and champion a diverse, open Media Web.”[2]

Songbird employs Mozilla’s XULRunner platform, and is thus capable of running on Microsoft Windows, Apple Mac OS X, Solaris and Linux. Songbird utilizes the GStreamer media framework.

Angels and Demons _2

Warning: spoiler alert!

A couple of weekends ago I went to the cinema and saw Dan Brown‘s best selling novel Angels & Demons recomposed as a movie. I never read the book, in fact I have yet to finish The Da Vinci Code (most likely to never happen), so I can’t make a comparison but I often hear that ”the books are better than the movies”. I didn’t find that the movie had that thing necessary for me to appreciate it. It is a good story (with a bad ending) that failed as a movie. It didn’t do a good job of making me react. There was a couple of scenes that frightened me (which is a good thing) and a couple that made me laugh, other than that it failed to touch me. The ending was horrible! He survived? Come on!
